BOOK ARTS FOUNDATIONS: YOUR FIRST ARTIST’S BOOKS – ADULTS WORKSHOP
A TWO-EVENING WORKSHOP • JUNE 30 & JULY 1 (TUE–WED) • 5:15–7:45 PM
Explore the creative world of book arts in this introductory workshop. Using a variety of media—such as drawing, painting, collage, and printmaking—you’ll learn how books can become unique works of art and powerful containers for personal expression.
Students will learn foundational bookmaking techniques and structures including accordion folds, flag books, one-sheet books, and simple pamphlet stitching. We’ll also cover essential skills like proper folding, using bookbinding tools and archival glue, and incorporating mixed media into your pages.
By the end of the workshop, you’ll create 1–2 original artist’s books and gain skills you can continue using in your own creative practice. No prior art or bookbinding experience is necessary.
Materials: Bookmaking and art supplies are provided and yours to keep.
Optional: Bring personal art supplies, photos, or ephemera you’d like to incorporate into your books.
