About this Event

Classical piano virtuoso and composer Adam Sherkin presents a solo program celebrating contemporary Canadian and American Jewish composers at the keyboard. This perfect hour features magnificent playing of selections written in the past thirty years: ZZ’s Dream by Osvaldo Golijov (2008); Compassion by Julia Wolfe (2001); Album for the Young(excerpts), Op. 43 by Lowell Liebermann (2003); Three Meditations: Book III, Op. 36 by Adam Sherkin (2018); Northern Frames, Op. 15 by Adam Sherkin (2018). A most extraordinary way to spend your lunch-hour!

Acclaimed for “dazzlingly displays of hand and ear virtuosity” (Opus One), “technical prowess and uncommon lyricism” (Musical Toronto), Adam Sherkin is a dynamic artist who commands a multi-dimensional approach to performance and composition. Admired for innovative programming and engaging virtuosity, Sherkin has performed at significant venues throughout Canada, the United States and Britain. This is his third appearance at Jewish Music Week in Toronto. Sherkin’s recordings are available on all major streaming services. He currently resides in New York City.
