In the context of the exhibition «Ragamala - Pictures for All Senses»Impromptu music meditation and introduction to Indian music pedagogy
(no prior musical knowledge required)
The event opens with a short meditation on the notes of a raga played live on sarod. The goal of this meditation is to create mental space, focus on the sounds and accept whatever the mind has in store for us. This state of mind will be the key to participating in a short vocal workshop, an example of traditional Indian music pedagogy.
Born in Novara (Italy) in 1985, Vittoria Pagani approached music through the study of classical guitar and singing from a young age. While studying at the Musik-Akademie Basel, she began attending vocal and instrumental Hindustani music courses taught by Maestro Ken Zuckerman. After graduation she decided to further her knowledge of Indian music and has been playing the sarod for 10 years, performing in classical and crossover concerts. She teaches classical guitar at the Musikschule Olten and classical Indian music at the Musik-Akademie Basel.
