The Art Of Noticing with OM SYSTEM Photographer Maher Ismail

Join OM SYSTEM Photographer Maher Ismail for a guided photowalk through some of New York City’s most iconic parks: Washington Square Park, Union Square, or Madison Square Park. This session is designed to help you slow down, notice more, and create stronger, more intentional street photographs.

You’ll learn how to:

• spot meaningful moments by observing people and movement
• use shutter speed to show motion in a still photo
• approach strangers respectfully for street portraits
• create images that feel more thoughtful and story-driven

To keep the experience hands-on and ensure access to OM SYSTEM loaner gear, the session is designed as a single, guided program with a structured flow.

2:00 PM – 2:30 PM
Meet & Briefing (In-Store at Adorama)
Kick off the session with a short introduction and guided exercises to help you slow down, observe your surroundings, and shoot with intention.

2:30 PM – 3:30 PM
Photowalk Session (On Location)
Head out as a group for a guided photowalk through nearby parks. Along the way, you’ll practice spotting moments, working with movement, and creating more intentional street photographs using OM SYSTEM features.

3:30 PM – 4:30 PM
Wrap-Up & Q&A (In-Store at Adorama)
Return in-store for an open Q&A with Maher Ismail. Review techniques, ask questions, and get practical insights you can apply to your own work.

Meet & Briefing (In-Store)
We begin with a quick introduction and exercises focused on awareness, observation, and intent before heading out to shoot.

Photowalk (Outdoor Session)
The group will head out for a guided walk, applying techniques in real-time, observing light, movement, and candid moments while practicing street photography approaches.

Wrap-Up & Q&A (In-Store)
We return in-store to debrief, share key takeaways, and give participants the opportunity to connect directly with Maher and the OM SYSTEM team.

Maher Ismail (Zi) is a world traveler, content creator, and storyteller based in the US. He earned his Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering with minors in Astronomy and Psychology at the University of South Florida, which led him to work with NASA as a computer engineer. Through these experiences, he developed a propensity for photographic arts and filmmaking, specifically the critical roles that biology and psychology play in our ability to communicate through the arts. Originally from Egypt, he has used his passion for travel, photography, and filmmaking to tell others’ stories through a lens and bring people on journeys with him.
