The Art of Massage
What is the course about?
A one-day workshop designed to introduce you to holistic massage. Discover how massage can relieve stress, boost your health, and increase relaxation through therapeutic touch. You will learn basic techniques to perform on family and friends. This introduction is suitable for those with a general interest or considering a career as a massage therapist. For existing wellbeing practitioners in Yoga, Pilates, personal training, and doula services add key skills to integrate into your existing disciplines.
Duration: 6 hours
What will we cover?
Introduction to history of holistic massage, the benefits, health and safety in practice and practical demonstration of the basic techniques of effleurage, petrissage, friction, and tapotement .
Work with partner in class to practice techniques and learn to give a relaxing treatment.
Importance of posture and breathing for deeper relaxation.
What level is the course and prerequisites
Introductory - suitable for beginners .
How will I be taught?
This is a practical one-day course taught in class . Course manual also provided.
What do I need to bring?
Three large towels, base oil which is suitable for your own skin, antiseptic wipes, hand sanitiser and mask (to be worn during the treatments). This is a hands on workshop in which you will give and receive a wonderful treatment! Lunch is not provided. Cafes and eateries are nearby.

Farrah Idris is an experienced complementary therapist, teacher, and trainer. A trusted voice in the field of health and wellbeing.
She has been working in health and wellbeing for over a decade. Primarily as a clinical therapist supporting people with life-limiting conditions in oncology wards in NHS hospitals and later in palliative care at St Joseph’s Hospice, London.
For Farrah, holistic therapies are more than just giving a relaxing treatment, they are a key to developing a healthier and happier relationship with ourselves and the wider environment. She is a passionate advocate of integrated healthcare. As a social prescriber and teacher, she engages with the community and stimulates positive change.
Farrah’s heart lies in sharing the joy of self-discovery and healing through therapeutic touch, clinical hypnotherapy, and wellbeing practices. It is through close collaboration with clients that she created HypnoBody ™ – The Listening Touch.
