About this Event

What is your relationship with anger?

What does your anger feel like in your body?

What if anger wasn't something to fear, suppress, or avoid but something to get curious about?

This month, The Art of Feeling turns its attention to ANGER.

Join us for an evening of reflection, conversation, breathwork, somatic exploration, and creativity as we explore one of the most misunderstood human emotions.

The evening will be facilitated by Nimanthie Ariyasinghe (Nim), who will guide participants through a gentle exploration of anger using emotional and somatic awareness, small-group conversations, and expressive arts.

Together, we'll explore what anger feels like in our bodies, what it might be trying to tell us, what it protects, and what gets in the way of expressing it in healthy ways. Rather than seeing anger as something "negative," we'll approach it with curiosity, recognising that it often points us towards our needs, values, boundaries, and the things that matter most to us.

We'll then move beyond words and into creativity.

Using colours, textures, shapes, and symbols, we'll explore our relationship with anger through a hands-on community art experience. This is not an art class, no artistic experience is expected. This is about learning to express something that words alone can't always capture and discovering what happens when we allow ourselves to explore, rather than judge, our emotions.

The Art of Feeling is a monthly gathering that uses expressive arts for self-exploration, connection, and expression. Each month, we explore a different aspect of the human experience, creating space to better understand ourselves, connect with others, and discover new ways of expressing what lives within us.

A Note About This Space

The Art of Feeling is a facilitated community gathering for reflection, conversation, connection, and creative expression. While many of the themes we explore can touch on personal experiences and emotions, this is not a therapy group, support group, or mental health service, and the facilitator is not acting as a therapist or mental health professional in this space.

We strive to create a trauma-informed environment where participants are invited to engage at their own pace, honour their own boundaries, and share only what feels comfortable. You're always welcome to participate in ways that feel supportive and appropriate for you.

Our intention is simply to create a space where humans can come together to explore what it means to be human... together... through conversation, creativity, curiosity, and connection.

Get to Know Your Facilitator

Nimanthie Ariyasinghe is a community weaver, artist, yoga and movement trainer, workshop facilitator, and lifelong student of what it means to be human.

With a background in design, teaching, and community-centred programming, she creates spaces where people can slow down, connect with themselves and others, and explore life's big questions through conversation, creativity, movement, and shared experience. Much of Nim's work is inspired by her own journey of navigating grief, healing, belonging, love, identity, and what makes life feel meaningful. She believes that some of our deepest insights don't emerge through thinking alone, but through feeling, creating, connecting, and being witnessed by others.

Every day, she strives to live a life rooted in love, and gatherings like The Art of Feeling are an extension of that practice - an invitation to come together, get curious, and explore what it means to be human.

Accessibility

Alternity is located on the ground floor and the event space itself is step-free to enter. However, the washrooms are located on a different level and require the use of two staircases, so the venue is not fully wheelchair accessible.

If you have any accessibility needs, questions, or accommodations you'd like us to be aware of, please reach out before the event and we'll do our best to support you.

Community Access

If the ticket cost is a barrier to joining us, please send us a note. We are happy to offer Pay-What-You-Can options whenever possible.

Creating spaces for connection and community is at the heart of this gathering, and we want to help ensure that finances are not a barrier to participating.
