Join us this summer for a series of four facilitated en plein air oil painting workshops, taking place in July and August (weather permitting).
Led by artist Dave West, these outdoor sessions will introduce participants to the fundamentals of painting directly from observation, capturing light, colour, and atmosphere in the open air.
Set on the front lawn of the Gallery, participants will receive expert tuition on developing a painting from start to finish, working on a small scale, selecting and refining a strong composition, and building confidence with oil painting techniques. Through demonstrations, practical guidance, and individual feedback, attendees will create their own original artworks while enjoying the unique experience of painting outdoors.
Book your tickets at the link.
Please note: This workshop is designed for adults and young people aged 16 years and over.
About the tutor: Dave West is a full-time artist originally from Swansea in South Wales living in Ireland since 1995. He has exhibited widely with both solo and group shows including many of Ireland and the UK’s most prestigious societies and academies including the Royal Academy, Royal Hibernian Academy, and the Royal Ulster Academy. Dave works across many different art forms but has a particular love of painting ‘en plein air’ in the Irish landscape. He has tutored, and won prizes at numerous Plein-air festival and events including Art in the Open held annually in Wexford, The Dublin Plein-air festival and Paint out Norfolk in the UK.
