The Art of Block Printing: Make Your Own Ruffle Bag
About this Event
The Art of Block Printing
Spend an evening learning the centuries-old art form of wood block printing at By Land & Sea. Using hand-carved wooden blocks and traditional techniques, you'll pick your colors, build your own pattern, and print a ruffle bag to take home.
Block printing is one of the oldest art forms in the world; a slow, deliberate craft, where hand-carved wooden blocks are stamped onto fabric layer by layer to create repeating patterns. There's something quietly meaningful about making this way: an object that carries the marks of your own hands, made to be kept forever.
What You'll Make
- Your own hand block-printed ruffle bag
- Cotton paper prints to frame or gift
What's Included
- 2-hour hands-on workshop
- All materials: your ruffle bag, hand-carved wooden blocks, and printing inks
- Light bites & drinks, including our very own BL&S beer specially brewed for the evening by Marlowe Artisanal Ales.
How It Works You'll choose from a collection of hand-carved blocks, learn traditional printing techniques, then build your own design across your ruffle bag. We'll guide you through every step, from your first stamp to a finished piece.
No experience necessary.
