Science Café on the Coast will host a presentation on “The Art and Science of Ceramics” on Thursday, May 9th at 3:00pm at the Biloxi Public LIbrary.
Join Amanda Bush, Education Director for the Ohr-O’Keefe Museum of Art, for a fascinating talk that will delve into the intricacies of this ancient craft, as we explore everything from the mineral properties of clay to the crucial role temperature plays in the firing process. You’ll learn how George Ohr, the “mad potter of Biloxi,” formed his unique shapes and redefined the Arts and Crafts art movement.
This event offers those with minimal background in science the chance to meet and discuss scientific issues in a relaxed social setting.
Admission is free and open to the public with light refreshments available.
