Capacity: Limited to 20 participants per module to support an intimate learning environment
This training welcomes dedicated practitioners who are drawn toward deeper inquiry, anatomical understanding, and embodied learning. While teaching applications are present, the material is also explored through self-practice, peer learning, and reflection. Many participants find this training brings clarity and maturity to their relationship with practice—whether or not they choose to teach.
This program works well for continuing education and advanced credentialing. The modules emphasize applied learning, integration, and long-term teaching intelligence—supporting teachers who are expanding their depth, scope, and sense of responsibility in their work.
Overview:
Building on the awareness developed in Module One, Module Two focuses on learning how to observe and organize movement with clarity. Rather than treating the spine and breath as separate subjects, this module explores how they work together to shape the structure, rhythm, and direction of practice.
Students participating in this module—whether deepening personal practice, learning alongside peers, or teaching—begin to understand how thoughtful design supports steadiness, continuity, and ease over time. The emphasis is not on creating elaborate sequences, but on learning how practices are built, how they progress, and how they unfold with intention rather than urgency.
This module invites participants to shift from asking "What is happening?" to asking:
How is this practice being constructed—and where is it leading?
Learning Objectives:
By the completion of Module Two, participants will be able to:
- Observe spinal movement patterns with greater clarity, recognizing how structure, load, and direction influence overall movement quality
- Understand the relationship between spinal organization and breathing as a foundation for continuity and coherence in practice
- Apply breath timing as a pacing tool to support steadiness, efficiency, and ease rather than control
- Design movement sequences that progress logically, preparing tissues and systems without unnecessary complexity or fatigue
- Recognize common sequencing and breath–movement conflicts and make informed adjustments to support sustainability
- Translate principles of spinal architecture and intelligent design into personal practice, peer-based learning, and teaching context
- Practice, teach and organize sequences with greater internal consistency, knowing when simplification strengthens learning and clarity
Spinal Architecture:
This section introduces the spine as a central organizing structure in movement and practice. Participants explore how spinal shape, segmental movement, and load distribution influence the way the body moves as a whole.
Key areas of focus include:
- Understanding the natural curves and functional design of the spine
- Exploring how individual spinal segments contribute to full-body movement
- Working with spinal pathways such as flexion, extension, rotation, and side-bending
- Observing how load travels through the spinal column
- Recognizing common spinal patterns that appear in modern asana practice
Breath & Spinal Organization:
Here, breath is explored as an organizing and pacing element rather than a technique to control. Participants learn how breath timing influences movement quality, pacing, and overall coherence.
This section includes:
- Understanding breath as a pacing mechanism rather than an instruction
- Exploring how breath rhythm shapes continuity and flow
- Coordinating expansion, compression, and transition
- Making movement choices that respect respiratory capacity
- Recognizing and avoiding breath—movement conflict in practice design
Intelligent Sequencing:
Sequencing is approached as an act of thoughtful organization rather than choreography. Participants learn how to build sequences that prepare the body gradually and logically, without redundancy or unnecessary fatigue.
Topics Include:
- Understanding sequencing as architecture rather than performance
- Establishing clear and logical movement progressions
- Preparing tissues and systems without overloading
- Working with sequencing arcs: warming, working, and integrating
- Designing practices that feel complete rather than exhaustive
Teaching Application:
This section focuses on translating structural clarity into real-world settings. Participants explore how to organize practice environments—whether personal, peer-based, or teaching contexts—with intention and restraint.
Areas of exploration include:
- Organizing structure with clarity and simplicity
- Designing sequences that adapt to mixed-level or mixed-intention spaces
- Teaching with internal consistency rather than excessive cueing
- Knowing when simplification strengthens learning
- Creating continuity across weeks, series, or training blocks
Integration & Practice:
Participants integrate learning through movement exploration, observation, and collaborative inquiry.
Practices Include:
- Spinal focused movement laboratories
- Breath-paced sequencing and movement experiments
- Group design sessions with peer dialogue and feedback
- Teaching or facilitating practicums emphasizing clarity and cohesion
Whether applied to personal movement inquiry, collaborative learning environments, or professional teaching contexts, Module Two builds the structural and rhythmic understanding needed to move from observation into continuity—preparing participants to consider how learning and practice develop over time.
