This talk will present information about past, present and future excavations at Wandlebury, a hillfort location east of Cambridge. Alongside the history of research at Wandlebury by the Department of Archaeology, the talk will showcase the findings from 2025, specifically the investigations within the interior of the hillfort, the old 1950s trenches, the eastern entrance into the hillfort, and the burial pit in which the remains of 10 individuals were discovered.

Speakers: Dr Matt Brudenell (Director, Cambridge Archaeological Unit) and Dr Oscar Aldred (Project Officer, Cambridge Archaeological Unit).

We will have a selection of archaeological finds from Wandlebury on display for attendees to have a closer look.

We will invite members of the audience to ask any burning questions they might have.

--

This talk is open to all ages, but please note that any attendee under the age of 18 must be accompanied at all times by a parent or carer over the age of 18. The talk will be most suitable for those aged over 12 years, and will discuss themes of death.

Due to the nature of the talk, there will be images of Human Remains in the talk.

--

Please be aware that a photographer and filming team from the University of Cambridge may be taking photographs and a film of the event. The photographs and/or films may be published, transmitted or broadcast in official University publications and in University publicity materials included in University and others’ websites and social media.

There is no parking available on site, we would recommend using the nearby Grand Arcade car park or taking public transport.

This event is hosted by the Department of Archaeology, McDonald Institute for Archaeological Research and Cambridge Archaeological Unit at the University of Cambridge.

Wandlebury Country Park is owned and cared for by local charity Cambridge Past, Present & Future.
