The 2025 Hypertension Awareness Run, presented by the Alphas and Alpharines Foundation (AAF) in collaboration with the annual Makarapa Run, is a community-centred health initiative aimed at raising awareness about hypertension—the “silent killer”—and promoting heart health across South African communities.The event will take place on 27 December 2025 from 6:00 AM to 3:00 PM at Corner Rampheri and Tshebela, featuring inclusive race categories for children, adults, and the elderly in accordance with Athletics South Africa (ASA) regulations.
By combining the Makarapa Run’s athletic expertise with AAF’s health education outreach, the run seeks to encourage healthy lifestyles, regular blood pressure monitoring, and community engagement in the prevention of hypertension, strokes, and related diseases.
