About Ann Murray: Ann Murray was a prominent San Diego leader, community activist, educator, and gospel vocalist. Sister Murray was one of the first African American gospel radio announcers in the region and was honored by the San Diego City Council with October 13th indefinitely being "Ann Murray Day" in “America’s Finest City of San Diego, California.” She organized and emceed numerous gospel events, introduced notable gospel groups, and was known as “The Queen of Gospel Radio” in San Diego. She also founded Gospel Music Day at the Del Mar Fair and supported low-income families with food and Easter baskets for many years.
