On your ballot and at our meeting: The People’s Court
Justice? Peace? Marrying people? What else is in a day’s work for these important public servants?
The justice court system is commonly known as the “People’s Court.” There are eight justice courts in Tarrant County, functioning as trial courts for both civil cases (with a jurisdictional limit of $20,000) and many different types of misdemeanor criminal cases.
Your justice court judge also serves as an administrative hearing judge. Each judge is elected to a four-year term by the voters in that precinct. Meet some of the names that will be on your Nov. 3 ballot: The Hon. Sergio L. De Leon of Precinct 5, the Hon. Kenneth Sanders of Precinct 7 and the Hon. Lisa R. Woodard of Precinct 8. You’ll learn more about these county officials running for reelection and meet other candidates who seek these positions.
Guests are always welcome, so bring a friend to Stage West on Saturday. Complimentary coffee at 10, program at 10:30. We've been marching together since 1928. Get inspired with us!
