The American Legion 2026 Department Service Officer Symposium

The American Legion (TAL) is excited to announce its 3rd Annual Department Service Officer (DSO) Symposium, taking place October 25–30, 2026, at the Washington Hilton Hotel, located at 1919 Connecticut Avenue NW, Washington, D.C.

TAL DSOs are accredited experts who provide claims counseling, resource support, Higher-Level Review (HLR), and appeals representation to Veterans and their families, free of charge. While much of their work involves assisting Veterans with applications for Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) benefits, these resolute professionals also help Veterans and their families navigate the complexities of the VA system. The Symposium serves as the capstone, Level 300 course for our DSO Accreditation & Training School. This comprehensive program provides DSOs with advanced knowledge and practical skills needed to effectively advocate for Veterans and their families and ensure they receive the benefits they have earned.
