Gerry Firkins is a local botanist who has a passion for plants and loves to share this with others. He has worked for the RSPB, Sheffield Council, the Sheffield General Cemetery Trust, and Sheffield University, in teaching botany, surveying and leading field trips. He has recently been an advisor to the National Trust and is currently a tutor for the Botanical Society of the British Isles.Gerry feels that wildlife programmes give precedence to mammals, birds, and insects at the expense of plants so this talk aims to reveal some fascinating facts and behaviours of plants to redress the balance and to show that they are just as remarkable!
