Alexandra McArthur returns to Pausa Art House with a dynamic quartet for an evening of music shaped by warmth, movement, and quiet transformation. Joined by Harry Graser (piano), Joe Goehle (bass), and John Bacon Jr. (drums), this performance marks the group’s first public appearance together in over a year.
Titled Blooming, the program draws from a wide-ranging repertoire, featuring the music of Duke Ellington, George Gershwin, Billy Strayhorn, and Cole Porter, alongside the influence of artists such as Nina Simone and Bessie Smith, with blues and spirituals woven throughout, alongside McArthur’s own original compositions. The set unfolds organically, guided as much by listening as by design.
After a period of time away from the stage, this return carries a deeper sense of presence and intention. For those who have been wondering, Blooming reflects a season of healing, renewal, and gradually coming back into light, both musically and personally. With a deep sense of interplay and trust, the quartet creates a sound that feels both grounded and expansive, moving from intimate, reflective moments to vibrant, groove-driven energy.
This one-night-only performance at Pausa Art House offers a chance to experience a group returning with renewed clarity, openness, and creative spark. Seating is limited.
