A panel of activists and candidates for office will discuss the U.S. Supreme Court’s reversal of Roe v. Wade at Sway's ‘The Agenda,' a series of gatherings featuring political figures discussing current events and matters important to the LGBTQIA community -- right in the Southern comfort of an Arkansas gay bar. All candidates on the panel are endorsed by the Progressive Arkansas Women PAC. The political action committee was founded in 2016 on the knowledge that women historically have been left behind in the race for campaign dollars. Today, women hold fewer than 20% of elected offices in Arkansas.
Over the past six years, PAWPAC has recruited candidates and volunteers, corresponded with voters and constituents, and raised money plus awareness. The goal? Elect progressive women to half the seats in every local and state governing body in Arkansas.
In addition to the panel discussion, ‘The Agenda’ will offer attendees the chance to get updated and involved in local LGBTQ politics while networking with other professionals, activists, and elected officials.
Arkansas' next election, which will decide several important races including for governor, will take place on Nov. 8, with early voting set to begin Oct. 24.
To qualify to vote in the next election, you must apply to register to vote 30 days before the election. As always, voter registration forms will be available at Sway's front desk.
