The Accidentals
The Accidentals (Sav Buist and Katie Larson) started playing music professionally when they were 15 and 16 years old after meeting in their public high school orchestra program in Traverse City, MI. Katie was a sophomore playing cello in the advanced orchestra and Sav was a junior concertmaster (violin). They volunteered to help their high school acquire electric instruments and formed the alternative strings club and so was born a friendship for the ages. Their story is exceptional as they have never not been musicians. They have worked professionally in the music industry since they were teens, launching their first album in 2012, just months before they transferred to Interlochen Arts Academy and participated in the first ever, Singer Songwriter program as Junior/Seniors. Six full length albums, three EP’s, a production deal, a major label deal, hundreds of concerts in the US and abroad including some of the best festivals in the US, sync placements in TV series, movies, and ads, endorsement deals, collaborations, a sold-out FAM cruise to Croatia, and a fan club, they call FAMclub, of music lovers brings us to 2024. Releasing Cover Art, their first album with new drummer, Katelynn Corll (Detroit) the band is set to tour the midwest in April, kicking off festival season at Rock by The Sea in Florida in May. They have a second album of co-writes, part of the TIME OUT series, waiting for release in the fall (already available on their Patreon FAMclub page) and they just finished demos for a 2025 Christmas winter album w/ Kaboom Collective Studio Orchestra. NPR calls them some of the most compelling writers of our time...Pop Matters says, they’re a power trio whose music is a blend of Neko Case lyrics, Jack White rock, and Queen dynamic. It's edgy, indie folk-influenced, pop rock.Their FAMclub said it best when they described them as Americana lyrics, pop melodies, and punk energy. The band says, “our goal is to create a safe listening space for everyone and shared experiences. Music helps people process things that are hard to process. Hopefully, people can relate to something we’re creating in a way that feels like understanding. Maybe, it offers a different perspective, and that leads to less loneliness and more community”
