The 6 CSAP Strategies and the 7 Strategies for Community Change

Both the 6 CSAP Strategies and the 7 Strategies for Creating Effective Community Change are essential to the work we do in the field of prevention. This educational session will define each strategy as well as provide examples.

The Center for Substance Abuse Prevention (CSAP) developed 6 major prevention strategies. These categories are used to describe the types of strategies effective in preventing behavioral health problems.

CADCA (Community Anti-Drug Coalitions of America) developed the 7 Strategies for Creating Effective Community Change. These strategies assist coalitions or planning groups with identifying appropriate and timely action steps to include in comprehensive action plan for strategy/intervention implementation.

Both the 6 CSAP Strategies and the 7 Strategies for Creating Effective Community Change are essential to the work we do in the field of prevention. This educational session will define each strategy as well as provide examples. Participants will learn how to use both the CSAP 6 strategies and the 7 strategies for creating effective community change to plan, implement, and evaluate data-drive, evidence-based prevention interventions.

Learning Objectives:

1. Participants will define and provide examples for each of the 6 CSAP Strategies as well as the 7 Strategies for Creating Effective Community Change.

2. Participants will apply both the 6 CSAP Strategies and the 7 Strategies for Creating Effective Community Change to the work they are currently implementing.

3. Participants will articulate how the 6 CSAP Strategies and the 7 Strategies for Creating effective Community Change work in tandem to create change.
