The Central Coast State Parks Association is ecstatic to be able to recognize world-renowned conservation leader, Julie Packard, with The John Laird Lifetime Achievement Award. Packard is the founding executive director of the Monterey Bay Aquarium, which has inspired tens of millions to love and want to protect our oceans and natural environments. Unknown to many, Packard serves on the Parks Forward Commission, which creates solutions to transform State Parks management, modernize operations, provide access for all and ensure the long-term sustainability of our natural and cultural resources. We are honored to have Senator John Laird at the ball to present Julie Packard with The John Laird Lifetime Achievement Award in recognition of her devotion to conservation and State Parks.
Friends of the parks, our oceans and our environment, you’ll want to be in the Barn for this Butterfly Ball!

Proceeds from this event will stay local and support the restoration of the Pismo State Beach Monarch Grove, a critical site for western monarch education and protection. The Grove provides habitat for California's 2nd highest population of overwintering western monarchs and educates around 100,00 visitors per year. Listed by Xerces Society as one of California's “most in need of protection and management”, the Grove needs immediate restoration work to sustain its educational and ecological impact! Help us support this natural wonder of the central coast by celebrating this incredible species at the 5th Annual Butterfly Ball!
