ACADEMY AFTER HOURS is The Laughing Academy's grown-ups-only late-night performance series, bringing the best of Chicago comedy right to YOU on the first Friday of every month! Join us for a night of laughs with a rotating roster of some of the hottest up and coming comedians in the professional stand-up scene!

Your Headliner: Michael Meyers has been a staple of the Chicago comedy scene for some time now. He has toured the country performing and was a feature performer at the Limestone Comedy Festival. In 2023, he released an hour long special called "Michael Meyers Performs Comedy For Real" to acclaim. In November of 2020 he released his second album, which was a socially distant stand up experience. "From Afar" went to number three on iTunes propelling him to be the nation's top bug noise comedian. His dry delivery and soothing voice will make for a stand up experience you might soon forget.

Featuring: Jarrell Scott Barnes is a comic hailing from the Windy City. At the age of 16, Jarrell started comedy opening for comics such as Sean Allen (Comic View), Ester Ku (MTV’s Girl Code, Comedy Central’s @Midnight, Playboy Morning Show) and Kool Bubba Ice (Martin’s 1st Amendment Stand-Up). Currently, he is bringing laughter to Depaul University as the host for the Soul Fu’ Open Mic. He Performs at World Renowned clubs all over the city like Zanies, Laugh Factory and Second City and produces a show called “Black Friday” that has been mentioned in the Chicago tribune and the Red Eye. You can find him currently performing for many colleges all over the city opening up for acts such as Karlous Miller (MTV’s Wild N’ Out). One thing is for sure Jarrell is happy to have a chance to share his unique brand of comedy to the world.

Hosted By: Grace Bahler is a satirist and performer based in Chicago. She’s performed all over Chicago and is a regular at places like Zanies, Laugh Factory. A regular contributor to Reductress, you can find her work on the web and in sharpie on bathroom stalls. Bahler has opened for Ronnie Chieng and performed in various sketch and improv shows. Your parents would love her.
