About this Event

Established by Congress in 1965, the National Endowment for the Arts is an independent federal agency that is the largest funder of the arts and arts education in communities nationwide and a catalyst of public and private support for the arts. By advancing equitable opportunities for arts participation and practice, the NEA fosters and sustains an environment in which the arts benefit everyone in the United States.

The National Council on the Arts advises the Chairman of the National Endowment for the Arts, who also chairs the Council, on agency policies and programs. It reviews and makes recommendations to the Chairman on applications for grants, funding guidelines, and leadership initiatives.

This meeting of the National Council on the Arts focuses on the arts in rural communities. In a series of conversations, arts and design leaders will explore the contributions of arts and culture in rural areas through creating connections and strengthening the health and well-being of individuals and communities.

Doors open at 11am. Free parking is available across the street from Lincoln Theatre.
