The annual North Carolina Gullah Geechee Heritage Dinner Gala is one of the most anticipated cultural celebrations in Brunswick County. Hosted by and held in advance of the March 4th , the 2023 Gala Dinner will re-ignite once again the interest of diverse audiences in the intertwining agricultural, cultural, and historical forces that made the Brunswick County area one of the richest rice-growing regions of coastal North Carolina and the Gullah Geechee Cultural Heritage Corridor.

Featuring a Cash Bar, live "edu-tainment" by the renowned performance troupe, sumptuous Gullah Geechee-inspired fare by award-winning Catch Restaurant Chef/Owner and , and a Silent Auction, the evening will be packed with enjoyment and activities echoing the Festival's overarching theme: "Education Through Celebration."

(NOTE: The North Carolina Rice Festival requires that all guests wear protective face masks upon entering the Gala venue and while attending the event except while eating or drinking.)

THE NIGHT'S GALA "EDU-TAINMENT": Hailed as "the most exciting musical sensation ever to come from the South Carolina Sea," the award-winning Gullah Kinfolk ensemble fulfills its mission through theatrical productions rooted in the Gullah culture. Founded by a 2022 Rice Festival favorite, storyteller , Gullah Kinfolk preserves the unique and enduring elements of Gullah Geechee history, culture, and dialect through expressions of musical performance.

THE NORTH CAROLINA RICE FESTIVAL attracts families, history enthusiasts, educators, tourists and residents alike to the Leland, North Carolina (Brunswick County), area to learn about and celebrate the region’s rich and diverse cultural history of rice farming. The Board of Directors of the North Carolina Rice Festival, Inc. (NCRFI) is dedicated to supporting efforts to preserve and promote the history and culture of our area, both within and beyond the planned Festivals.

The Gullah Kinfolk ensemble celebrates the importance, history, significance and richness of the Gullah culture. Performances and educational programs provide an understanding of the direct ties between Western Africa, especially Sierra Leone, with South Carolina and the entire Gullah/Geechee Corridor, including North Carolina, as the group's performance at the 2023 North Carolina Rice Festival Gala Dinner will demonstrate!
