It depicts Ethiopia from the mid-18th to 19th centuries, an era in which the country was divided and ruled by local warlords. The story is set in the then-Ethiopian capital of Gondar. An elderly king, too weak and on the verge of dying, loses his heir. He ordered his two younger sons to avenge the killer, and also announced that the one who succeeded would take the throne. The film tells the story of a divided society, the ugly side of war, betrayal, courage, and sacrifice.
