About this Event
The Science Speakeasy at the National Academy of Sciences is open for round 3!
We’re back to kick off Spooky Season with a healthy dose of superstition – fortune tellers, ghost stories, and a 100-year-old building that we can’t say for sure isn’t haunted.
Join us on September 13 at The 1924 - a Science Speakeasy pop-up series - for a lively evening of cocktails, conversation, and discovery.
We invite all you bootleggers and flappers to don your glad rags and celebrate this special centennial anniversary. Our guest for the evening is Bill Hallman, Professor at Rutgers University who studies psychology and public perception of risk.
Sip on a signature cocktail as Bill explains why we fear the things we shouldn’t and pay no mind to the things we should.
Tickets are limited! We sold out very quickly last time! Bonus points for stepping back in time and making a bold fashion statement.
What can you expect?
5:30PM: Doors open
6:00-7:15PM: Cocktails and nibbles
7:30-8:00PM: An insider's peak into the Academy's 100-year-old building
8:00-8:30PM: Talk and Q&A with Bill Hallman
And you'll be out before 9 for your Friday night shenanigans!
