About this Event
Join us at Trinity College Dublin for a special public lecture and event marking 20 years of The Irish Longitudinal Study on Ageing (TILDA).
At the heart of TILDA is the extraordinary generosity and long-standing commitment of thousands of participants across Ireland. Their continued contribution over the past two decades has helped transform understanding of ageing in Ireland and created one of Europe’s leading longitudinal studies of ageing.
Through the experiences, stories and data shared by participants, TILDA has generated internationally recognised research spanning health, social and economic life, helping shape policy, practice and public understanding of ageing.
This special event will reflect on what TILDA has taught us about how we age, and what that means for our future selves, our health, our working lives and our social connections.
We are delighted to welcome Professor Sarah Harper CBE, Clore Professor of Gerontology at the University of Oxford and Director of the Oxford Institute of Population Ageing, who will deliver the keynote lecture.
The event will also feature a panel discussion chaired by Jonathan McCrea, bringing together:
- Professor Rose Anne Kenny, Trinity College Dublin
- Professor Sarah Harper CBE, University of Oxford
- Professor Alan Barrett, ESRI
- Professor Cathal McCrory, Trinity College Dublin
Together, they will explore themes including healthy ageing, social and economic inequality, work and longer working lives, social connection, and the implications of demographic change for future generations.
Further programme details will be announced shortly.
