Grab your yeti shorts and your holiday spirit, because the $20 Plus Art Show is back—and this year marks 25 incredible years of affordable, one-night-only, local art magic. What started as a creative challenge has become one of Louisville’s most beloved art traditions, bringing together artists, collectors, and curious wanderers for a wild and wonderful night of handmade chaos.
Way back in the year 2000, when gas was $1.50 a gallon and $20 could get you dinner and a movie (with snacks!), artists John King and Mike Ratterman came up with a brilliant idea: create art worth $20—not a clearance sale, but a creative challenge. That idea grew into the $20 Art Show, where artists pour their talent, time, and imagination into work that’s accessible to everyone.
Fast-forward to 2025, and while $20 doesn’t stretch quite like it used to, the tradition lives on. Artists will still have the majority of their work at the original $20 price point, but will also offer a selection of larger, more substantial pieces—priced to reflect the time, experience, and craft poured into them.

Big Changes This Year
It’s on a Friday! Some things never change.
It’s in a new venue—the Highlands Community Ministries! We couldn’t be more excited to bring the show to one of Louisville’s most creative, community-driven neighborhoods. This new space gives us a little more breathing room, a lot more charm, and a chance to celebrate our 25th anniversary surrounded by the same creative chaos that’s fueled the show since day one.
So come wander, shop, and discover incredible art—perfect for holiday gifts (or, let’s be honest, for yourself).

The $20 Art Show wouldn’t exist without the vision of artists John King, Mike Ratterman, and the original crew—Tish Quesenberry, Scott Scarboro, and others—who started this whole thing in the old Clay Street space. Over the years, it’s floated around Louisville, and since 2012, Mary Yates and Ron Jasin have kept the torch burning bright—now joined by Suz and Gary from Liberty Tattoo and Art Parlor.

This is your chance to snag incredible, locally made art at $20 while exploring larger works priced above $20 from some of the region’s most talented artists. It’s a one-night-only event that’s equal parts tradition and creative experiment—and it only happens once a year.
