About this Event
Always wanted to try your hand at decorating sugar cookies? Looking for a fun time out with friends? Kristen's Cottage is here to help! In this two-hour class, we'll cover the basics of sugar cookies (so – yes, it’s beginner friendly!), do some piping practice with royal icing, learn about the process of decorating sugar cookies, and cover some general concepts around dough and icing! Everything you'll need is provided at class along with a live, in-person instructor – just bring a smile (and maybe an apron).
Come relax with a tasty drink and some creativity before the holiday madness really begins! We’ll be decorating a set of cozy Thanksgiving themed cookies (I'll get photos up as soon as I can, so you can see what you'll be decorating).
You'll start with naked cookies and four colors of icing, and by the end of class you will have created your very own, Instagram-worthy set of sugar cookies. Your ticket also includes your first drink from Satire Brewing's delicious selection of craft brews (up to $8).
You'll leave class with a great understanding of the basics of sugar cookies plus a few cool techniques we'll cover in class! More details on refunds, things to bring, and FAQs are below - looking forward to having you with us.
About this Class
This class is for the beginner cookier or for the person who is just curious about what cookie decorating is all about! If you have limited experience with sugar cookies, found yourself frustrated with royal icing, or if you're looking to have fun with family or friends, this is the class for you!
We provide everything you will need, including a box to take your awesome creations home in and all the tools necessary to knock this cookie class out of the park! Everything is prepped before class – so no baking or icing mixing required. Just decorate!
This class is on Tuesday, November 26 and starts at 6 pm, so we can have enough time to decorate and answer questions along the way. Come by yourself, bring your best friend, or bring the family! It's a blast whether you're coming with a friend, family member, or solo!
This class will be mostly adults, but if you have kids 10 and over who'd love to decorate with you, you can purchase an additional ticket for them or order a take-home kit to bring home to them (more on that below)! The kits are great for kids (or if you just can't get enough!), plus - we'll send you the class PowerPoint so you can teach them yourself!
A bout Your Instructor
A little about me – Hi, I'm Kristen! I've been baking cakes and cupcakes for over 12 years now, but a couple of years ago I discovered sugar cookie decorating, and I haven't put down my scribe since (don’t know what a scribe is? I’ll teach you in class!). My favorite cookies to decorate are minis – but I can do pretty much anything if icing’s involved. I love what I do – who wouldn’t love making people happy with baked goods?! It’s the sweetest job in the world!
I have classes throughout the year which highlight different themes, so make sure to follow me (@kristenscottage on Facebook and Instagram), so you can get in on all the cookie action!
DIY / Take-Home Kits
Order your sugar cookie class kit and take the class home with you to teach a child or friend! These class kits come with everything you'll use in class, and I’ll email you the class PowerPoint so you can follow our step-by-step instructions from home! Take-home kits are created before your class, and you'll pick them up and take them with you at the end of class.
How long can a kit last? Depending on how you store your icing, your kits can last for a week or longer. Freezing cookies keep them fresh for a long time, but I recommend using your kit as soon as possible - ideally in the first week after you've taken it home. Cookies are heat sealed for freshness – but again, use it in under a week to make sure it tastes the best.
The Fine Print
Cottage Disclaimer: Kristen's Cottage operates under the Colorado Cottage Foods Act. It is a home kitchen that is not subject to state licensure or inspection and that may also process common food allergens such as tree nuts, peanuts, eggs, soy, wheat, milk, fish and crustacean shellfish.
If you would prefer cookies made without gluten ingredients, please be sure to select that add-on ticket as you check out. Since I bake out of my home, everything is mixed, rolled, cut and baked on the same equipment, so I cannot guarantee there won't be cross-contamination, but I do offer cookies made with gluten-free flour and other ingredients that do not contain gluten.
Class Cancelation Policy: Classes may be canceled at the discretion of me, the event host. This rarely happens – but in that extremely rare event that it does, you’ll receive a 100% refund including Eventbrite fees.
Classes with attendance below five may be canceled. Don’t be sad! You can either get a class credit for a future class (along with my apologies), or a full refund! I’ll let you know if your class has low attendance the week before the event, so that you can bring a friend (hint hint).
Weather Policy: Sometimes Jack Frost doesn’t play well with cookie class schedules, and Mother Nature seems to be takin’ notes. In the event of inclement weather, I’ll contact you with options – these may differ depending on the weather event, but rest assured – we’ll figure something out!
Eventbrite Fees: Eventbrite does not refund its fees. If you cancel your ticket and request a refund prior to the cancelation window expiring, I’ll happily give you a refund less those fees – since I don’t get them back either. Eventbrite keeps them regardless of whether you show up or cancel.
Let’s keep in touch!
