Thanksgiving Frosting Feast Beginner Decorating Class

Curious about the art of decorated sugar cookies? The Mad Batter is ready to assist! Join us for a 2.5-hour Beginner class that is perfect for anyone that has held a piping bag before. We supply everything you need, from cookies and icing to sprinkles and a box to take home your amazing creations – all we need is YOU! Each aspiring baker will receive 6 cookies, 4 icing colors, sprinkles, and all the essential tools to make this cookie class a success! Everything will be prepared right before class, so there’s no need for baking or mixing icing. Just come ready to decorate!

By the end of the class, you'll have a solid grasp of the fundamentals of sugar cookies, along with some exciting techniques we’ll explore together! For more information on refunds, what to bring, credits, and FAQs, see below. We can’t wait to see you there!

Feel free to come solo, invite your best friend, or bring the whole family – we have seating for up to 8 people! It’s guaranteed to be a fantastic time, whether you’re joining us with a friend, family member, or on your own!

The class will be held at Foxtail Coffee in Pompano Beach. Nervous about the parking situation? Don’t be! Parking is located in front of the store and there are plenty of spaces!

FAQ

What will I be doing in the class?Aside from having an absolute blast? We will explore some fascinating cookie facts and decorating techniques, and you'll have the chance to decorate your very own set of cookies to take home with you that same day.

Can I purchase an additional take-home kit?Absolutely! Many parents or enthusiastic decorators choose to buy extra class kits to replicate the fun at home. You can add a kit during checkout, and it will be ready for you at the end of your class—so don’t forget! If you’re unable to attend and just want the kit, feel free to drop by anytime during class to pick it up; it will be labeled with your name!

Do I need to know how to bake? Not at all! No baking experience is necessary. We will provide pre-made cookies, along with icing that’s already mixed and colored. If you have a bit of decorating experience, feel free to join us! I'm here to assist with any questions about icing mixing and dough spreading!

What will we learn in class? You’ll discover how to prepare royal icing and understand the importance of different icing consistencies. We’ll share tips and tricks to enhance the appearance of your cookies (which already taste delicious)! You’ll also learn various decorating techniques tailored to the class theme, such as marbling, outlining, wet-on-wet, brush embroidery, and painting. Or feel free to get creative and design your own! It’s your class!

What do I need to bring?Just bring your smile! Everything else will be provided, including my (delicious) sugar cookies. All you need to do is join us and enjoy! If you tend to get messy, feel free to bring your own apron or wear clothes that are easy to clean. We’ll have a PowerPoint for reference, so if you wear glasses, we recommend bringing them along. And don’t forget your phone—I love capturing memories!

What age is best for cookie classes?Our classes are designed for anyone aged 14 and up! From teens to grandparents—everyone is welcome to join in the cookie fun! While our in-person classes are suitable for all ages, children under 10 will need a parent to accompany them. If you think your child might be too young for the in-person class, consider purchasing an additional take-home kit! We’ll send you the class PowerPoint so you can guide your kids at home.

What will I bring home?By the end of the class, you’ll have crafted a beautiful set of cookies, which will need to dry for 24 to 48 hours in their own box. I’ll also share an Amazon link with a list of the tools we used in class, so you can recreate these cookies at home. Plus, you’ll leave with new skills, wonderful memories, and lots of fun!

Can I sign up as an individual or as a group?You can register as an individual, with a friend, or as part of a larger group—the more, the merrier! Our classes are limited to a maximum of 8 seats, so be sure to sign up as soon as possible!

I signed up for a class but can't make it?We understand that life can be unpredictable, which is why we allow cancellations up to 4 days before the class. You can also transfer your spot to a friend (and what a generous friend you are!). Any cancellations after the 4-day window will receive a class credit, redeemable for up to 6 months from the issue date.

Things to BringCurious about what to bring for a successful decorating experience? While nothing is strictly required, here are a few recommendations to enhance your time with us!

· Bring an apron! Decorating with royal icing can get a bit messy, so grab an apron (bonus points for cuteness—I’ll definitely want to know where you got it!).

· Bring your glasses! We’ll have a reference slide deck for decorating, but if you find it hard to see from a distance, your glasses might be a good idea.

· Bring your phone! I love when students capture moments throughout class—so don’t forget your phone!

· Bring a mask if you’d like! Our classes adhere to state health guidelines, but feel free to wear a mask throughout if you prefer.

· Bring a positive attitude! Cookies are fun but can also be a challenge! A positive mindset makes all the difference.

DIY / Add-On KitsOrder your sugar cookie class kit and take the class experience home to teach a child or friend! These class kits include everything you'll use during class, and I’ll email you the class PowerPoint so you can follow along at home. Cookie Class DIY Kits are prepared in advance, and you’ll pick them up to take home after class.

How long can a kit last?Depending on how you store your icing, your kits can remain fresh for a week or longer. Freezing cookies helps maintain their quality, but I recommend using your kit as soon as possible—ideally within the first week after bringing it home. The cookies are heat -sealed for freshness, but again, use them within a week to ensure the best taste.

Class Cancellation Policy: Classes may be canceled at my discretion as the event host. While this is a rare occurrence, if it does happen, you will receive a full refund.

Classes with fewer than 2 attendees will be canceled. Don’t be disheartened! You can choose between receiving a class credit for a future event (with my sincere apologies) or a full refund! I’ll notify you if your class has low attendance three days before the cancellation, giving you the chance to bring a friend (hint hint) or make alternate plans.

Weather Policy: Sometimes Mother Nature has other plans for cookie classes! In the event of inclement weather, I will reach out to provide options. These may vary based on the weather situation, but rest assured, we’ll come up with a solution!
