CLASS INFORMATION

Investigate the fundamental intaglio printmaking techniques of hard ground etching and drypoint on copper. Students will experiment with the various line qualities of the medium including expressive gestural marks, intricate precise lines and dynamic line widths. The class will create one hard ground etching in combination with drypoint techniques. Additionally, the history of etching will be introduced, and the class will be introduced to contemporary artists working with the medium. Technical demos will include how to transfer an image to a plate and how to work with hard ground.
