Program Content/Learning Objectives

Finance is called upon to play a central role in gathering, analyzing and organizing data to meet agency accounting and regulatory requirements, provide information to agency management to oversee grants, projects, and day-to-day operations – with a view to long-term financial sustainability. Key steps include identifying ongoing improvement opportunities, determining changed obligations, understanding resultant requirements, and implementing new business processes and systems – in concert with change management. Transit finance officers from across the country will gather in Nashville to share strategies regarding the Finance role in accounting and financial process and system improvements, with a view to making better decisions.

Workshop objectives – After attending this conference, participants will be able to:

  • Describe the Finance role in gathering, analyzing and organizing data to meet agency accounting and regulatory requirements and provide information to agency management.

  • Explain system implementation pitfalls and victories experienced by sister agencies.
  • Define the process to assess agency reporting and information requirements, identify options, and manage process changes.
