SWAN LAKE STORIES: A Historic Walking Tour
Saturday, April 26, 2024
$20 | $15 | Start Times from 8:30 - 9:30 AM
DESCRIPTION: Discover the charming history and timeless architecture of Tulsa’s Swan Lake neighborhood on this walking tour. Once a spring-fed watering hole for Col. Adolphus D. Orcutt's cattle, this area blossomed into a beloved retreat thanks to the vision of Samuel "Gus" Orcutt and his wife, Annie, a woman of Cherokee heritage.
Stroll through the picturesque streets and learn how the Dawes Allotment Act of 1877 granted Annie and her children 800 acres, paving the way for the neighborhood’s development. Hear stories of Orcutt Lake, a favorite escape for early Tulsans seeking relief from summer heat, and explore the architectural gems that define this historic district today.
Whether you're a history enthusiast, an architecture lover, or simply enjoy discovering Tulsa’s hidden stories, this tour is a delightful journey through one of the city’s most iconic neighborhoods.
