About this Event

In this workshop, learn new ways of seeing and modifying materials—new or found—to create dimensional textural in your art on fun and unique totem-size panels that are tall and skinny!

In this workshop, you will learn how to:

  • build dimension from found objects
  • incorporate fabric and handmade papers
  • tame and simplify texture
  • create a "faux encaustic" look with acrylic mediums
  • use a limited palette of colors
  • create depth and interest with mark making
  • create a rich, textural piece of art

We will be using a tall and skinny wood panel also known as an art totem! They're an attention-getter that can be hung almost anywhere at home.

Students will walk away with 2 finished, one-of-a-kind pieces with lots of texture and visual interest, as well as a new understanding of what makes up the Minimalism art style.
