About this Event

Get creative with fabric, thread, and color in this fun mixed-media textile art class! Students will design their own unique bug or flower-inspired artwork using fabric, embroidery techniques, and acrylic markers on canvas.

Choose from a variety of bug and flower stencils for inspiration, or create your own designs freehand. You’ll learn basic embroidery stitches to secure fabric pieces to the canvas, along with more advanced techniques such as creating and stuffing fabric pockets for added texture and dimension.

Students will explore color, shape, composition, and layering as they cut, arrange, and stitch their fabric designs onto canvas. Once the main design is complete, acrylic markers can be used to add details, patterns, and finishing touches to the open areas of the canvas.

If time allows, the back of the canvas will be finished with varnish to help secure and protect the stitching.
