About this Event
Inspired by the eco-dye collection of fashion brand el.résidu, in this workshop you will dye a 60x60cm cotton scarf from leftover fabrics with flowers and spices.
The scarfs are developed by a small organization in India called ‘the Shirley foundation’ Founded by one of el.residu partners, where women get the change to learn and work on their sewing skills to become financially independent.
Opposed to the often polluting chemical fabric dyes, you can also dye fabrics with natural dyes - think of beet root, onions, flowers, spices, and make beautiful prints with them.
During this workshop, provided by Ella Brouwer, fashion designer and founder el.résidu, you'll get:
- A brief explanation of the dyeing technique used in the collection of el.résidu
- A cotton scarf, to which you'll l apply the dyeing technique used in the el.résidu collection
- Various types of flowers and spices to create your own unique print.
The workshop will take about 45 min to 60 min. For the dye to fixate to the fabric and to cool down, will take 60 minutes. If you cannot stay longer, you can pick up the scarf at the SF/Collective pop-up, Haarlemmstraat 72 in Amsterdam. When you don't live in Amsterdam, we can send it to your home address.
This workshop is especially offered to you during Amsterdam Fashion `Week in collaboration with SF/Collective - a Sustainable Fashion Collective that generates visibility and sales for (upcoming) Fashion Frontrunners such as el.résidu. SF/Collective is also the ditsributor of the , which can be redeemed at , , and - all brands that are featured during AFW 2024.
