Texas State Cemetery - Beautiful & Historic Guided Tour (FREE)

Get some steps in with friendly people as we Meetup for a FREE guided walking tour of the beautiful and historic Texas State Cemetery.

All are welcome.

Just blocks east of the State Capitol, the Texas State Cemetery is the final resting place for honored Texas including Governors, Senators, Legislators, Congressmen, Judges and other legendary Texans who have made the state what it is today.

It is a popular tourist attraction and colloquially referred to as the "Arlington of Texas" because of the renown of those interred and proximity to the seat of government.

Efforts to establish the Texas State Cemetery began in 1851, with the death of General Edward Burleson. Burleson served with Sam Houston in the Battle of San Jacinto and as Vice President of the Republic of Texas. Throughout the years other notable Texans have been buried on Cemetery grounds including: Stephen F. Austin, Governor John Connally, Lieutenant Governor Bob Bullock, Congresswoman Barbara Jordan, and many more.
