Join us for “Texas and the AI Revolution: Higher Education,” at the University of Texas at Dallas or online Friday, Sept. 27.
AI is already transforming higher education, and Texas officials and higher education leaders are working together to help prepare students, faculty and administration at community colleges and four-year universities for what’s on the horizon.
Darla Cameron, the Tribune’s interim chief product officer, will moderate a conversation on the challenges and opportunities AI presents for Texas colleges and universities. How are schools looking to best prepare students and faculty for a changing workforce? Can AI help institutions find efficiencies in operations and allow faculty to focus more on teaching? Can AI be used to make learning more equitable or will it create further divides?
Speakers include:
• Gopal Gupta, professor and co-director for the Center for Applied AI and Machine Learning, Jonsson School of Engineering and Computer Science, The University of Texas at Dallas
• Igor Lucic, University of Houston student, previously studied AI at Houston Community College, the first Texas community college system to offer associate and bachelor's degrees in AI
• Snow White, director of educational sales, Intel
Doors will open at noon at The University of Texas at Dallas for lunch, and the hourlong conversation will begin at 12:30 p.m. Speakers will be announced soon.
