About this Event
Tetrapak printing is a form of intaglio printmaking, similar to drypoint or collograph, but using recycled tetrapaks, such as fruit juice cartons for the printing plate.
The inside of the cartons has a shiny surface that can be scratched or cut into, or the top layer can be peeled back to make a variety of marks, which are then inked up before rolling through a press.
The creases from the packs can make interesting marks or you can cut shapes out of the tetrapak to suit your design.
During the workshop you will design and make a tetrapak plate/s using buildings as your inspiration. Please bring along any sketches or photographs that you’d like to work from, it could be a photo of your house, an iconic Leeds building, a cityscape you love or an imagined city.
Cath will bring a range of images that can be used as a starting point.
By the end of the workshop you should have a small edition of 3 or 4 prints to take home. The printing plates will be approx. A5 size with the paper around 18 x 25cm – if you wish, please bring a small folder to take your prints home.
Printmaking can get messy, please wear old clothes or bring an apron.
