Tetra Pak Printing
About this Event
Tetra Pak Printmaking Workshop with Carrie Lyall
Join printmaker Carrie Lyall for a hands-on, eco-friendly printmaking workshop using everyday recycled materials and traditional print techniques.
Tetra Pak—the silver-lined packaging used for juice and milk cartons—is an amazingly versatile base for drypoint etching. In this 2.5-hour workshop, you’ll learn how to transform simple household packaging into a beautiful, textured fine art print.
What You Will Learn & Do:
- Design & Plate Preparation: Gain practical experience in drawing, mark-making, cutting, and peeling the carton surface to build tone and texture.
- Inking & Pressing: Experiment with intaglio inking techniques and pull your unique designs using a hand-wound press.
- Take Home Your Art: Leave with a set of your own prints, plus your original plate to continue printing at home.
Good to Know:
- Inks & Color: We will be working with black oil based ink during the session. Once dry, you can easily add watercolour washes to your prints at home if you wish!
- What to Bring: Bring a simple drawing or reference photo to transfer to your plate. We will be working with 8.9 cm x 19.8 cm sections of Tetra Pak, but slightly larger pieces incorporating creases will also be available if preferred. Extra inspiration images will also be provided.
- Suitability: Suitable for beginners and those with prior printmaking experience (Minimum age: 12 years). All materials provided.
Bring your creativity and enthusiasm, and enjoy a few hours immersing yourself in the world of printmaking!
