About this Event
Join us!
DUVI is a summertime camp designed for young singers ages 14+ to develop their voices and build confidence in performing and auditioning.
During this weeklong camp, students are invited to Drake University's campus to work with voice faculty and other professionals in the Department of Music. Students have the opportunity to enhance their vocal techniques, sing with ensembles, and meet peers with the same vocal music passion.
Additionally, students have opportunities to participate in opera scenes, jazz choir, or musical theatre scenes, while under the instruction of our renowned faculty. At the end of DUVI, students take what they have learned and host a final showcase in which friends and family are invited to attend. This showcase also includes a choral performance that all students participate in.
New this year!
The DUVI Voice Competition is open to entering high school juniors and seniors for Fall 2026. Participants will prepare 1–2 memorized classical selections, including one piece in English and/or one in a foreign language. For an additional $10 entry fee, students will have the opportunity to sing for Drake University faculty, participate in a masterclass-style workshop with guest clinicians, and be considered for performance in the final concert. The competition is designed to provide meaningful performance experience, professional feedback, and artistic growth in a supportive collegiate setting.
At the conclusion of DUVI, students showcase what they’ve learned in a final performance for family and friends. This event includes a full choral performance featuring all camp participants.
