BEWARE THE MOON!
Join dark historian Andrew Johnston of Alternative Ulstours on National Werewolf Day for an illustrated Terror Talk on Ireland's primal relationship with wolves - natural and supernatural.
Long before it was tamed, Ireland was so densely populated by wild canids, the English called it 'Wolfland'. From hunting the last wolf in Ulster to the species' dramatic final stand on Mount Leinster, this talk uncovers the true history of our lost apex predator.
But history is only half the picture. The wolf prowls through Irish mythology. Our age-old lore of bloodlines, curses and magic may contain the earliest written stories about werewolves.
Discover ancient legends of the faoladh - otherworldly warriors who could shift into lupine form - as well as the war goddess Morrigan, who lunged onto battlefields as a savage she-wolf, and three lycanthropic sisters said to emerge from the Cave of Cruachan every Samhain.
So, come along to the iconic Sunflower Public House, buy a drink, pull up a seat and bark at the Moon with Alternative Ulstours!
