The only way we could open Terror-Fi’s 10th Anniversary would be with the first Terror-Fi Films film … BLACK SHEEPS … the sequel to Jonathan King’s Kiwi cult classic horror comedy Black Sheep … a film your support of the festival helped to make!
Other headline films include: CRAWLERS, the new spider horror guaranteed to make you squirm; VICTORIAN PSYCHO, a delightfully twisted period horror with Maika Monroe and our own Thomasin McKenzie; WILD HORSE NINE from the director of In Bruges, The Banshees of Inisherin, and Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri; IT ENDS, the stunning existential road trip sci-fi thriller from the producers of Backrooms; and BUDDY the delightfully twisted and utterly bonkers children’s TV show horror that has delighted genre fans at every festival it’s played.
Terror-Fi 26 also presents some truly stunning and unique creative visions, including: I LOVE PARIS, a quintessentially French take on What We Do In The Shadows; SPECIES, the brilliant body horror for fans for films like The Substance; UPIRO, the engaging period vampire flick based on an actual recognised case of vampirism by the Catholic church; BREEDER, the shocking dark comedy horror about a Dog Breeder gone rogue, and GODMOTHER, with its stand-out performances and genre-bending twists.
For fans of the fans of the unique and quirky indie comedies like Greener Grass and The Civil Dead that we uncover (much to our delight!) while hunting for films each year, we have the apocalyptic comedy romance LITTLE DOORS …
… and for those who like things dark and twisted, we have THE ONES WHO GRIEVE – a visceral gut punch of a film that you’ll be talking about long after you leave the cinema.
Aligning with other milestone birthday celebrations, our two retros this year are: THE HOST, the Korean sci-fi classic turns 20 and we premiere the 4K remaster; and LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS, the all-time classic horror musical turns 40 so we’re screening the Director’s Cut.
Lastly, our SHORT FILM SHOWCASE returns, with some incredible New Zealand and International genres … and new this year we have TERROR-FIND MY TRIBE shorts where teams of emerging Wellington filmmakers were paired up to make World Premiere shorts for Terror-Fi!
We know that the cost of living is still making it tough to do the thing we love, so we’ve kept all tickets under $20 – with Adult tickets at $19.50 and Student, Senior, and Guild tickets at $17.50. Your support means the world to us!
Our Fan Badge is back too, where you can see all 15 feature films and the 2 short film sessions for just $195 – that’s less than $13 per screening!
We can’t wait to celebrate turning 10 with you.
