Terrapin Workshop w/ Staten Island Zoo

About this Event

Come help the researchers of the Staten Island Terrapin Project conduct field work at North Park on City of Water day. Observe diamondback terrapin nesting behaviors and follow along as we take demographic measurements and deploy nest protection methods. Learn about what you can do to appreciate, conserve and protect this important native species and their habitat here on Staten Island.

Participants will meet at the Bird Observation Tour in North Park Phase One, which is at the end of a direct walk into the park from the parking lot. North Park Phase One has accessible multi-use paved paths. Participants should wear comfortable shoes, bring water, a snack, and be tick-aware. Pants and long socks help prevent tick exposure.
