Oakland Ballet is honored to host a screening of Ten Times Better, a film that tells the astonishing and heartwarming story of George Lee, a pioneering Asian dancer who originated a featured role in George Balanchine’s The Nutcracker 70 years ago as a teenage refugee from China. Directed by Jennifer Lin, a former reporter, she tracked down the 89-year-old George Lee in Las Vegas, where he has worked for 40 years as a blackjack dealer—and still does—at the Four Queens casino.
