Ten Broeck Mansion Holiday House 2025: Walk-through Tours

Make this holiday memorable for you and your family! Join us for a richly immersive walk-through experience of the Ten Broeck Mansion, decorated for the holidays.

Learn about the history of the Ten Broeck Mansion. Our docents are available to answer your questions about holidays in the past and the history of our community in a walk-through tour experience. Exhibits of artisan-made textiles and crafts using historic techniques, plus a celebration of holidays around the world.

We recommend you reserve your timed admission tickets in advance as tour spaces are limited.

Event Highlights:

🎄 Enchanting Holiday Decor: Step into a winter wonderland as you walk through the beautifully decorated Ten Broeck Mansion, perfect for the festive season. Enjoy displays of artisan-made textiles and crafts using historic techniques, celebrating holidays around the world.

🕰️ 25-Minute Walk-Through Guided Tours: Ideal for families. Each tour includes free children's guides: "Indoor Forest" exploration for younger kids and "Round the World" for middle schoolers. Plus, each child receives a free ornament kit!

🎁 Shop Local: Visit our porch shop and indoor museum shop for hand-made wreaths, ornaments, vintage tea cups, books, and locally-made artisanal goods. Museum Shop Hours: Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays & Sundays noon-3 from December 4-December 21. Museum shop: free admission, no reservations required. Special Sale: Select products 50% off on Sunday, December 21.

🎨 Art Inspired by History Demonstration: with Maret Lyons on Sunday, December 7, from 12:00 – 2:30 pm. Artwork available for sale in Ten Broeck Mansion Shop.

🧵 Embroidery Demonstration: with members of the New York Capital District Chapter of the Embroiderers' Guild of America on Sunday, December 14, from 12:00 – 2:30 pm.

🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿Traditions of Scotland: History & Weaving of Scottish Tartans : with the ScotlandShop on Sunday, December 21, from 12:00 – 2:30 pm.

Visitor Tips:

• Parking: Free off-street parking available in our Livingston Avenue lot (GPS directions: 136 Livingston Avenue). Our historic neighborhood has sidewalks for easy pedestrian access. Check our website for public transportation options.
• ADA Access: parking for those with ADA tags/plates available adjacent to Ten Broeck Mansion. Please contact us with questions about ADA access.
• Comfort: Wear comfortable shoes for walking on historic, sometimes uneven surfaces (no spike heels). Bags should be smaller than a backpack. Dress in layers and carry your coat, as there's no coat check.
• Respect Museum Spaces: Please do not touch historic museum collections. Please no food and drink in the Mansion. Water (in closed non-glass bottles) is allowed.
• Late Arrivals: Due to limited space, late arrivals may not be able to join the tour or stay past the allotted time.
• Educational Kits: Free kits and self-guided garden tours available in our garden kiosk.
• Weather Cancellations: Tours may be canceled in case of severe weather. We'll strive to reschedule or offer extended hours, but we cannot guarantee a new time slot for every visitor.
• Private Tours: Book a private Holiday House tour for your group or club (groups of 8 or more). Perfect for special holiday events at your workplace! Contact us for more information.
