daltonists is a polish experimental trio [genre: leftfield jam], whose name refers to color blindness, a congenital visual impairment. This flaw in human nature has become the band's idée fixe, their main inspiration and motivation for creating music. The musicians combine the colors of contemporary jazz, afrobeat, dub, African and club music.
Despite their short existence (June 2021), daltonists have become a sensation on the local scene, playing at several prestigious festivals in Poland, including Jazz Jantar, True Tone Festival, and OFF Festival. At the Crossroads Showcase Festival in Ostrava, they won a special award for the best band selected by music industry professionals, which resulted in invitations to further festivals in 2026/2027 (Sunfest and Ottawa Jazz in Canada, Colours of Ostrava in the Czech Republic, Jazz Fest in Brussels, and others).
The band's debut mini-album, entitled “daltonists,” was released on May 9, 2024, and its YouTube version went viral, garnering a huge number of positive comments from around the world. Their songs are often played by leading DJs on radio stations in Poland and Europe (Soweto Kinch – BBC 3, Tom Ravenscroft – BBC 6/RinseFM, Marcin Harper – Czwórka, Gosia Jakubowska – Trójka).
Their second album, “gradient,” was released in November 2025 by the British label Folded Music.
In the spring of 2025, a partially sold-out concert tour took place in Poland and Europe to promote the first album, and another tour promoting the second album is planned for spring/summer 2026 in Europe and Canada.
Band members:
Roman Wroblewski – synthesizers
Piotr “orz” Orzechowski – bass guitar
Jacek Rezner – drums
The whole thing sounds a bit like Todd Terje playing Bad Bad Not Good :)
