Hekler (real name Shaun Bacus) has always taken a unique approach to his music. Toiling away tirelessly in the studio, Hekler brings a prolific pallet of influences, spanning hip-hop to bass music, ambient pieces and much more. He looks to masters of their craft, like Lorn, Mike Dean, Lisa Bella Donna and Clams Casino, to propel his robust productions forward. His cornerstone tracks like “Astral featuring Jeleel,” “Transparency,” and “404” afford listeners a look at what can happen when bass volatility and expert composition live in explosive harmony. Harrowing bass, bouncy top lines, and genuine artistry all live under one roof in Hekler’s house. Industry support continues to pour in for Hekler, alongside collaboration recruits from Ekali, GRAVEDGR, YOOKiE and more.With high-profile sightings at EDC, HARD Summer, Bonnaroo, Red Rocks, Rampage Festival, Escape—just to name a few—Hekler’s keeping ears perked cross-continentally. In early 2023 one of his most important,undertaking yet, his debut LP ABYSS on Bassrush Records, followed by his most recent body of work; ‘HEK SZN’ EP also out on Bassrush Records released Oct 2023. Hekler continues to have one lucid, overarching goal: to harness each ounce of artistic background and wisdom at his disposal.2024 has been a year of claiming his place within the bass scene, starting with his release andOddKidOut ‘Original Steppa’ featuring Scruffizer at the top of the year garnishing wide support, receiving Bass Arcade cover on Spotifyon release day and several other editorial playlist support.Followed by releases with features by Rick Ross, Cam’ron and Scrlxrd and closing it out the year with another collaboration with OddKidOut, the A/B side release of Dangerous/Villains released with outstanding support by Apple Music Dance & Beatport Top bass picks.2025 is set to be a musically explosive year for Hekler.
