Make a summer design Temari Ball at the Nikkei Garden Market
About this Event

Create a beautiful seasonal temari inspired by the colors and joy of summer.

In this welcoming workshop, you will learn how to stitch a graceful interwoven pattern while exploring color combinations that reflect the brightness of the season. Choose from five vibrant color options and create your own unique temari to display, gift, or treasure as a handmade keepsake.

Color Options:

Blue, Red, Pink, Yellow and Purple

This workshop is suitable for beginners as well as those with some temari experience. The ball base is already prepared and divided, allowing you to focus on learning the stitching technique, enjoying the creative process, and connecting with fellow participants.

One unique feature of this design is that both sides of the temari are stitched at the same time. This is a relatively uncommon technique in temari, making the process especially interesting and rewarding.

Temari is more than a craft—it's a wonderful way to slow down, connect with others, and spend a few peaceful hours creating something beautiful with your own hands.

All materials included — everything you need is provided.

- A detailed step-by-step textbook you can keep and reuse anytime

- Pre-wrapped, pre-divided ball base

- Embroidery floss

I look forward to welcoming you and sharing the joy of temari together.

What is Temari?

Temari (手まり)is a folk craft originating from Japan around 1300 years ago. Traditionally made in the form of "hand balls" given from parents to children on New Year's day. They've become a popular and versatile gift item while remaining a refreshing toy for children to play with.
