Many of us have sat in funeral homes or churches listening to eulogies where the speaker mispronounces names, gets facts wrong, or clearly never knew the deceased. We lose connection to our loved one, hearing a story we don't recognize, instead of the adventures, strengths, and memories we shared. We leave feeling detached, thinking "I could have done better..."
First person eulogies give us the gift of writing our own story. The eulogy might begin, "I loved peonies, baking with my grandkids, and riding my vespa" or "I worked hard at my career, but reflecting on my life, I most enjoyed weekends at the cabin with family" or "I'm sad to end this journey and want to share my values with the family I'm leaving behind.”
By entering the sacred space of deep contemplation, we take stock, define our values, and create a beautiful story for loved ones to receive. It becomes a heartfelt sharing of what's most sacred to us.
Two-Part Workshop: Mondays, Sept 22 & 29
7:00-8:30pm In Studio at Dayaalu
